Abstract: There has been an increase in the number of justice-involved veterans experiencing mental
health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders in prisons and after their release. Despite well-documented racial and ethnic differences in rates of recidivism, there is no data analyzing the extent to which substance abuse treatment and recidivism correlate similarly across groups of incarcerated veterans. The purpose of this quantitative correlational- predictive study was to examine if race/ethnicity and participation in the Diversion Program.
