Lived experience of female Veterans in criminal justice & prison systems

Aim
This PhD project aims to address the insufficient data available about UK female Veteran offenders (FVO) within the justice system and His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and the lack of current records of their lived experience within offender pathways or institutions. The principal aim of this project is to record narrative accounts of the unique experiences in the FVO journey and explore any additional needs they may have specifically related to their gender and Veteran status. This can then potentially improve understanding of where improvements to current support structures can be made.
